Happy St. Patrick's Day

Nothing says Happy St. Patrick's Day like wearing green and making rice krispie shamrocks.

April Art

Here are some of my projects from my April art class.  This first one is in the style of Alexander Calder:
Shapes That Make Me Happy
Fluffy Bunny
Sunset Tulip Field
This one of the cherry blossoms was my favorite this month.

Chewy, Guardian of the Tent

We set up the tent in the backyard for some playtime.  Chewy wanted to play with us, but also wanted to be on guard.
Or maybe he just wanted to lie down and roll around in the grass and tent at the same time.
Too bad he didn't guard me from Tommy.  We were playing around and he bumped my SUPER loose tooth and voila!  I'm ready for you, tooth fairy!  And don't worry, I thanked Tommy.

Gymnastics Showcase

Tommy had his last city gymnastics class yesterday.  It's very hard to get a picture of him standing still, so Mom figured she would take more video instead.

But she managed to get a few shots of him showcasing his skills.  Here he is doing a bridge (which he was very scared to do when the class started). Good job, Tom Tom Frog!
He has good form!
And held his handstand strong.
Here he is in action introducing himself, gooning around during intermission, and showcasing some of his skills.
Good job, class, and way to go Tommy!

Symphony in Space

We went to see the Pacific Symphony's kids' event "Symphony in Space" last weekend.  We knew they'd be playing music from Holst's "The Planets" while showing NASA pictures and footage, and that they would play a song or 2 from Star Wars, which we were excited about.  We didn't know that before the show they would have TONS of Star Wars characters for us to meet.
To say we were excited is an understatement.  So many stormtroopers!
Tommy and Mommy being tough with the First Order TIE Fighter Pilot and biker scout...
Tommy and an Imperial Guard...
And with Boba Fett...
Mom even had to get an up-close and personal picture with Boba Fett.
Here's a Dark Side family portrait. Tommy's grin while looking at Darth Vader is the best.

And we both loved R2D2.
And Dad loved leaning on him.
We had a ton of fun!
And did a few space crafts too.

Then it was time for the show inside the beautiful Segerstrom Concert Hall.
During the performance, they projected a few works of art that kids had sent in.  They put up about 20 pictures, and my alien drawing was one of them!
"Hello, Fellow Creature"
What a fun time!

A Tale of Tommy

This may not all happen in one day in the life of Tommy, but it sometimes comes very close.  Bath time becomes silly...
Reading time becomes snuggly...

Picking up dog treats at Petco becomes silly...
And riding your bike becomes an opportunity to take all your birds (and your Teddy, of course) for a little nature ride in your basket.

Goalie!

I had my first spring soccer game with my team, The Flaming Dragons, on Saturday.  This year we actually have goalies, and I got to try it in the first game.
I got to wear the special pink jersey and these cool gloves.
I did a pretty good job!
I think I may like playing goalie.
Tommy and his friend Amelia had fun cheering for their sisters...
And goofing around together.

Science Fair

We had our school science fair last week.  I decided to investigate the question, "What ingredient makes a cake rise?"  First, I made name tags for all the participants in the experiment.
We carefully carried out the procedure...
And here are our results!  The one without baking soda is the one in the white wrapper.  I'll have to conduct another experiment to find out why the one with no milk (in pink) didn't rise too much either.
Then it was time for taste testing!  A scientist's work is never done...
Mom got to watch me present my experiment to Mrs. Crain and the class...
And Daddy and Tommy got to come see it set up at the science fair.  Science is yummy!
