Yellow Belt, White Stripe

Yesterday was a big day.  I castled correctly in my chess class, lost another tooth, and got my yellow belt, white stripe in karate!  Here I am doing my kata:

Sensei Tania said I have good concentration and show genuine effort.  Here she is presenting me with my belt...

And tying it on me.

Look at my proud little face!

Daddy made sure he was there to watch me earn my first karate belt.

Look out, yellow belt!

I'm coming for you!

March Beach Day

It was so hot last week that we needed to have a beach day!  Our friends Sam, Brady, and Colton came to play with us.

Park Play Date

We had a fun playdate at the park with Kayla and Natalie.  Lots of playing...

And lots of giggling.
Stinker!

Mom told Tommy to make a silly face for a picture and this is what he gave her.

Chewy had fun at the park too.

He played frisbee, did some good rolling, and was all worn out.

He was so tired that night that he agreed to wear Woody from Toy Story's hat.  Howdy, Chewy!  Or better yet, goodnight!

Mommy/Katherine and Daddy/Tommy Day

We decided to divide and conquer on Saturday.  Mommy and I had a date, and Daddy and Tommy had a date.  Mommy and I went out for crepes, and while we waited for our food I told her all about my new Zita the Spacegirl comic book...

Played don't break the ice...

And beat her mercilessly in giant Connect 4.

Then she took me out for my first time roller skating!  I was very determined, and did a really good job!  Check out my skating and wall-scaling roller skills:

Tommy and Daddy had their own fun.  Tommy got to ride in my car seat...

Then they ate their favorite food, corn dogs, and chased ducks at the park.  Big fun for all!

Checkmate!

I finished my latest session of academic chess, and had a lot of fun. I also earned the sportsmanship award! Mom, Dad, and Tommy are very proud of me, and we celebrated with donuts. The down side is that Mom's taking some of the credit, saying she made me a good sport by beating me repeatedly at Uno. Better watch out the next time we play chess, Mom. I won't let you wear my medal if you cry when I beat you.

Mr. Peepers

Mom and Dad laugh every time Tommy sits like this at the table (which is almost always) and say he reminds them of Mr. Peepers from a Saturday Night Live sketch.  I think this may not be a compliment.

Reptile Zoo

We made a visit to the reptile zoo this week because we missed the critters...
And I think they missed us too!  Thanks for the licks, Charlie!

A Visit from Grandma

Grandma came to play with us last week.  Tommy and Mom took her to the Santa Ana zoo...

And rode the train.

I'd be jealous, but I had a birthday party to attend, so I think I'll survive.  Thanks for coming, Grandma, we love you!!!

It SNOWED!

The other day I told Mom that I wished it would snow here  AND IT DID!  Well, sort of...
We had a crazy thunderstorm come through that dropped a bunch of tiny hail on the beach and all over Main Street.  When the sun came out and it melted a little, it was perfect for making tiny snowmen...

And for snowball fights!

We had a blast playing in it, and so did tons of other people.  It's weird to say the beach was packed with people playing in the snow, but it was!  Everyone down there was smiling from ear to ear, and Mom said it's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.

Since it looks like I may have the power to make wishes come true, she made me promise I'd wish for a personal chef for our family, just in case.

Whatever, Mom!

I, of course, wished for more snow.
