Driving in Nosara
Our house was very close to the small town of Nosara.
We did a little shopping there, and had some great gelato...
There were fun open-air bars and restaurants on the beach
And the best way to get around was on a golf cart.
And good local beer.
And Kevin loved the coffee at Rolling Waves.
Most of the roads aren't paved, which made them tricky to navigate when it rained. Lots of potholes, and lots of flooding that would come up fast with the rain every day. These little tuk tuks making it through some of the puddles were pretty sketchy...
And it was even worse for us. The gas-powered golf carts would get stuck if got the spark plugs got wet, so we had to push them slowly through this huge lake/puddle.
And to make it lighter we had to wade through...
It was like driving through a lake, and we weren't sure the carts would make it. But the electric ones did ok, thankfully!
There were stray dogs begging for food and attention everywhere...
And you could see the eclectic Nosara Hotel from just about everywhere, including our house up on the hill.
We had dinner out one night while John and Ann watched the kids...
But we also needed to get groceries for breakfast, and lunch and dinner most days. It's hard to get tables for 19 people at a restaurant! So we braved the local supermercado...
And loaded our impressive haul onto the golf carts.
When we did eat out, the food was excellent!
Chifrijo - fried pork with red bean and rice, avocado, tomato, and pickled vegetables. So fresh and good!
The kids opted for a good old acai bowl...
And one of the most popular dishes was Casado - This one had chicken (we also had steak, pork, and vegetarian), rice, beans, tortilla, fried plantains, veggies or salad
Golf cart gang!
A mellow, happy hour vibe everywhere...
Fancy Dinner Night
We had dinner at a lovely open air restaurant called La Luna by the water one night. It rained on the way there, but then it cleared up for a gorgeous sunset, so we had to take advantage.
I love these shots of Kat and Kara...
The kids all got Shirly temples...
And the view from our table was so pretty.
More pictures!

Costa Rica Beach Time
We had a few lovely beach days. The water was so warm, everyone stayed in and played in the waves for a long time.
Tommy did some boogie boarding too.
There were splash fights...
And lots of laughing.
And searched for hermit crabs. There were a ton!
