Garbage bags packed up and ready for the 5th grade colonial life boat trip!
We slept and worked on a tall ship in the Dana Point harbor called "The Pilgrim".

The captain and first mate were in character as if they were from colonial times, and we had to do everything as if we were colonial sailors. Different groups had different jobs, and my friend Phoebe and I were navigators. Here I am being cold and plotting a map.
Here we're being cold and steering the ship (even though it didn't technically go anywhere, we pretended like it did).
Here we are being cold after the captain told us a scary ghost story...

And here Phoebe and I are being FREEZING while standing watch on deck for our shift, 2am-4am. Yes, you read that right. I told Mom the only thing I saw was pigeons, so good thing we were there.
I did actually sleep from 10pm-2am, and again from 2am-6am. Then it was time to stand in line, being cold, waiting for breakfast. Did I mention it was cold? It got down to the 30s that night! Brrrr!
Lucky me, I got to scrape the oatmeal pot. I don't even like oatmeal. And I wasn't warm.
We had fun that morning going out in the rowboat.
And then it was time to pack up and head home.
Mom told me I could have whatever I wanted when she picked me up. I opted for a donut, some chips, milk, and a hot shower. I also told her I had a blast and would totally do it again. I'd just hope it was a little warmer.
