Tommy's 2nd Grade Wax Museum

Tommy was King Tut for his 2nd grade wax museum day.
He wanted the headdress, crook staff, and flail to look authentic. Mom and Dad did a pretty good job!

Ready for action!

Here's his speech:
He got to stand by his friend Cole, aka Edgar Allen Poe.
Nana came to watch...
And so did Mrs. Bakx, his 1st grade teacher. He had his speech written on a notecard, and on the front of the card he wrote "King Tut for life!" in heiroglyphs.
Here's his resting pose.
He had to get a photo op with his good buddy Evelyn, aka Cleopatra. It was a fun morning and he looked great and did great!
Here he is with his whole class:
L to R back row: Cleopatra (Evy), Albert Einstein, Alexander Hamilton, Betsy Ross, Harriett Tubman, Elizabeth I, Walt Disney (Kailee), Stan Lee, Helen Keller, King Tut (Tommy), Edgar Allen Poe (Cole), Abraham Lincoln, Babe Ruth, George Lucas
L to R front row: Thomas Edison, Jackie Robinson, Sacajawea, Steve Jobs, Anne Sullivan, Steve Irwin, Milton Hershey, and Harry Houdini

Tommy's 8 1/4 Birthday Party

Tommy's birthday party was exactly 3 months late this year, so we had fun celebrating his 8 1/4 birthday. He wanted an endangered species themed party. I came up with appropriate names for all the snacks...

And mom did the decorating.
They played some games, one where they had to hold hands and snake through the hula hoop faster than the other team...

And another called "Elephant Stomp" where they each had a balloon tied to their leg, and tried to stomp on each other's balloons to pop them. Last one with an unpopped balloon won! Tommy came in 2nd.

There was A LOT of gooning around and playing on the swing set.
At one point they had 6 kids on the tire swing!

That's Cole hunkered down there in the middle of it.
My friend Sarah and I steered clear of the chaos and played arctic animal bingo with Dad.
Then it was time for the treasure hunt. We had to decode clues to collect animal crackers, animal stickers, and finally a figurine of our favorite animal with a little sign on it that said "adopt me!" Mom even found a pangolin figurine for Tommy.
Tommy, Evelyn, and Cole were very secretive about their decoding and hid out behind the garbage cans.
Tommy wanted donuts instead of a cake, and no one objected.

It was a fun party. Happy Birthday, Tom Tom Frog!

Scouts Weekend

We sold Adventure Cards for scouts last weekend. I sold them outside of Ralphs...
With a bit of help from Tommy.
Next I helped him sell his cards around the neighborhood. Then we sold Mom on the idea of a trip for frozen yogurt.
The next day Tommy had a den meeting. They played a game where one scout was blindfolded, and his partner had to tell him where to go to get to the prize first. Tommy was really good at it, which Mom said was surprising since following directions isn't always his favorite thing.
I came with to help teach them how to fold a flag correctly, and then we brought donuts over to the fire station next door. They were appreciative, and gave us a tour of their engine. We even got to sit in the driver's set!

A fun Scouts weekend for all!

Second Grade Spring Concert

After a few jumps off the swing, Tommy was ready for his 2nd grade spring concert.
He assured us he wouldn't be singing, but that he would most likely mouth the words.
And giggle with his friend Cole.
Mom, Dad, and I had fun watching him and his class though.

And we will admit he's pretty cute.

Shirtless Swingin'

Now that it's light outside longer and has finally stopped raining, Tommy can get back to his favorite after-dinner routine: swinging!  Last night he decided that he needed to do it shirtless

He's a very silly boy. And so is Chewy
