Last Day of School 2018

It was FINALLY our last day of school!
Needless to say, we were ready.
Here's the difference between our first and last days. Yes, I'm wearing the same outfit, but new ears.
Tommy's class had breakfast and movie day...
Here he is with his friends Cole and Sam.
His teacher handed out awards to everyone. Tommy got the "Loyal Leader" award, because his teacher said he is good at so many things, and kids look up to him (not just because he's tall).
I got the "Class Bookworm" award, and a bag of (gummi) worms!
We'll miss our school friends over the summer, but we're ready to move on to 2nd and 5th grade!

And the best way to celebrate the last day of school is a pool party with friends!  Bring on summer!

Scouts Flag Ceremony

All the Webelos were asked to perform the flag ceremony at the 5th grade graduation. We got to wear our Scouts uniforms to school and did a great job!

Gold Rush Day

The fourth graders studied California history this year, and ended with a unit on the gold rush, so we had a fun Gold Rush day. I dressed as a miner...

And we rotated to a bunch of different stations. Mom ran the games booth where we played marbles, had a sunflower seed spitting contest, played jacks...

And learned Cat's Cradle.
We also tooled leather, learned the Mexican hat dance, told campfire stories, panned for gold, and made corn husk dolls. It was super fun!

Field Day

Mom was in charge of the Accelerated Reader Field Day reward party, which meant we got to/had to help set up.
It was fun! I did a beanbag toss with my friend Katelyn...
Beat Ally in the egg-on-a-spoon race...
And we all got a Popsicle!
Tommy liked the scooter races...
And everybody liked the water balloon toss. Especially when the first graders and volunteers (Mom included) started throwing them at each other!

Father's Day 2018

Happy Father's Day to the best dad ever!
We took Dad out for his favorite food, sandwiches, and then to the nickel arcade for some gaming fun!
We all raced each other in Mario Kart...

Won a few tickets at ski ball...
And shot some ghosts on the Ghostbusters game.
We love you, Daddy!
Happy Father's Day!

June Art

I had 2 "Meet the Masters" workshops this month, one on Wassily Kandinsky...

And Tommy came back to art class this month. Here are our takes on Frida Kahlo...

And some others by Tommy:
Feet on the Beach
Cool Lemonade

Pineapple Pen
This one he made in class as part of his goblin shark project.
Here are mine from the month:

Bridging in Scouts

We had a camping event and our bridging ceremony for Scouts. We played tug of war...
Hockey...
And learned more about knot tying.
The bridging ceremony is where we cross the bridge from one rank to another. Tommy crossed over from Tiger to Wolf...
And Dad gave him his patch.
Then the former wolves tied their new neckerchiefs on the new wolves.
After the younger Lions bridged to Tigers, Tommy got to tie their new neckerchiefs on.
Here's Tommy with his den, and now they're wolves!
Mom gave a little speech about her Webelos girls...
And then we bridged from Webelos to Arrow of Light, the highest Cub Scout rank, and the most important one to complete before we change from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA next February.
