La Brea Tar Pits

We went to the La Brea Tar Pits last weekend.  We hung out with bears...

and giant snuggly ground sloths...

In one exhibit, we pulled on these levers to simulate what it would be like to be stuck in tar...

And then tried to open our mouths as wide as the saber tooth tiger.  It was a little scary for me at first...

But once I played with these little furry versions I was all in.

Tommy liked the animatronic wooly mammoth...

But the big mammoth fossil was the coolest.

You will note I wore my fossil shirt just for the occasion.

We also got to hold saber tooth tiger skulls, dire wolf skulls, and that's a saber tooth tiger's tooth I'm holding.

Tommy was taking notes on how to win a fight from this exhibit.  I'd better watch my back.

After the museum we had lunch at the LA Farmer's Market.  Yum!

We even talked Dad into letting us split a chocolate dipped frozen banana on the ride home.

Tommy liked the look of his chocolate goatee.  Judging by his size for a 2 year old, he may be able to grow an actual one soon.
