Independent Woman

Great Auntie Janine sent me $5 for Valentine's Day, and I asked Mom if I could go to the toy store to spend it.  This was an eye opening financial experience for me, since most things I wanted seemed to cost much more.   But I was very excited to buy something with my own money.  Here I am with my Hello Kitty purse and coin purse giving the poor clerk all my change from my piggy bank.  He said not to worry, and that it happens a lot.

I bought this cute bear and ice cream stand set.  I love it!

Tommy also got $5, and bought this helicopter.
I liked buying things with my own money so much, that Mom and Dad decided it was time for me to have an allowance so I can start learning about how to save and spend money.  Since I'm old enough to get an allowance, I'm also old enough to do chores.  Every day I make my bed, clear the dishes off the table after meals, feed Chewy, and pick up my toys. I also help Mom with the laundry (I am an expert sock-matcher), dust, and swiffer the floor.  Here I am checking off my accomplishments on my chore chart.

After a week, I had 2 whole dollars!  Add that to my $1.20, and it's time to visit the toy store!  But first we had to stop off for some lunch consisting of...

Silly faces...

And quesadillas.

Here I am paying for my cool new dress-up doll.

I love being an independent woman!
