Blast Off!

We went back for the second year to the Boeing homemade rocket launch.  Here we are building our masterpiece:

It was a group effort...

Even though Tommy sometimes seemed to be working against us.  

We did take breaks to rehydrate with lemonade...

And goof around, of course.  

Here's the finished product.  You can tell I'm quite pleased.  

After filling it with water we were almost ready...

Safety first!  Goggles on, ready to launch!

As you saw in the video, we did 3 launches, but our chute only depolyed on two.  Tommy sized up the other real rockets to see where we went wrong...

But his astronaut dreams were not deterred, and neither were mine.  

Mom was being overprotective, and insisted that if we went to space we were taking her, too.  

Check that one out!  It almost distracted my from my astronaut ice cream!
